We have questions

I DON'T REALLY GET THE CONNECTION BETWEEN 'ENGAGEMENT' AND 'COMMUNICATIONS'.
Good question. Communications is one of the most powerful functions a company has to influence employee engagement. It's sort of like how Marketing influences customer experience. It's about a system of consistent, deliberate touchpoints, tailored to meet audience needs -- in this case, your internal audiences. Leadership Communications plays a big part in this -- your people want to hear from you regularly, and in a way that guides that attitudes and activities. Communications delivers the 'how' and the 'what', depending on the 'who' and the 'why'.
I totally talk to my staff. Obviously. Why do i need you?
If you are confident that your people are working to their full potential, that they're all high performers, that they all leap out of bed each morning to race to work and perform miracles, and that wires never get crossed and balls never get dropped in your company, then no, you do not need us. However, could you please still get in touch so we can do a case study on you? Our other clients will really benefit, and we will dedicate an entire page to you on this site. Thanks!
i think we're doing fine, but I've got these investors...
Yup. You do. And they know that you are awesome at what you do, at your 'core business', but that maybe some of the more abstract aspects of running a business, especially a fast-growing one, are where you could use a little support. You've got an IT resource, someone doing your finance and HR, but this...this is a little different. Your investors know that if you're people keel over or walk out the door, you've got a problem. They know that if your people are trying to produce greatness amidst chaos, you've got a problem. They know that you are busting your ass to make the best product you can, because that's what you're amazing at. This is just like a little boost. It's like a can of red bull on a long road trip, except it'll last longer. This is just going to make everything work better. Don't get freaked out. You -- and they -- are going to love what we do.
I don't understand how this is going to make me more money
It has been proven that strong company cultures create better, harder working, more innovative productive employees. Those employees deliver better work, better customer experience, and better business outcomes -- everything you need for your company to make more money.
My business is special and different -- how do I know you'll get what we're about?
Here's a list of the industries and sectors we've worked in:
  • Accounting/Auditing
  • Insurance
  • Chemical Manufacturing
  • Film and Television
  • Military and Defence
  • IT
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Professional Services
  • Land Management
  • Public health
  • Engineering
  • Government
  • Hospitality
Here's the secret truth: every business is different, and every business is the same. Every has some special snow flake qualities that make it unique and special and complex, and every business has some bits that they think are unique and special and complex, but aren't really.
So, if you're wondering if we'll 'get your business', trust me, we will.
Isn't this what HR is supposed to do?
Internal communications and employee engagement are just over the river from the land of HR. We partner closely with HR, because we're all interested in managing people to help manage the business, and this work sort of picks up where HR ends. HR and Communications are both really interested in culture, engagement, and employee experience.  If you've got an HR partner, either someone in-house, or an outsourced provider that you work with, we definitely want to work alongside them. They'll likely have a lot of data and insight that will help us develop and implement our work program. But there's no stepping on any toes here, we're two separate functions, and they'll be relieved to see us turn up. Promise.
I know many of my employees are disengaged, but i think it's more a product of conditions in our business, can you help?
Yes, No, Maybe! This is a great question, because it touches on the limits of what great internal communications can change. Here are some of the aspects of your business it can't fix:
  • Workers who are not provided with the tools or conditions required to succeed in their roles.
  • Management or leadership who display bullying, hostile attitudes towards employees and are not interested in changing them.
  • Other management or leadership performance issues that really sit better in the realm of HR and succession planning.
However, you don't have to be a flawlessly run business in order to get a lot of benefit from internal communications. It may also help shine a lot on some of the other areas of management you want to address separately.
So, the short answer is, let's have a candid conversation about what's going on in your business, and we'll be honest with you about how and where we can add value.
